One Simple Wish FFY GroupLilCrystal entered the system at the age of 10 and aged out at 18. Despite the challenges that she faced while in the system (and after aging out), she was able to push herself into positive things like education and is on track to achieve her goals! After completing High School, LilCrystal attended Florida A&M University and earned two Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, in only 3 and a half years. Right after her early graduation she was accepted into graduate school at Florida Atlantic University where she earned two masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Nonprofit Management. During her graduate school career, she simultaneously held two internship positions - one as a Foster Youth Intern (FYI) at Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) and the other as a Congressional Intern with U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) in Washington D.C. She conducted research on placement stability and healthy relationship building for foster youth. LilCrystal is determined, hardworking and will not let her past define who she is or the limitless possibilities for her future.
Last year, LilCrystal took the LSAT exam and didn’t get the score she needed. She then took it a second time earlier this year, and received an even lower score. While she has been very discouraged and doubted if she was capable for going to law school, she recently decided to try one more time. Through her work with the National Youth Advisory Board at National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC), she used her lived experience and expertise to advance the rights of children in foster care and providing high quality legal representation. As she completed her first year on the board, she has been encouraged to continue to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. This LSAT Program is geared towards adult students, and LilCrystal has found the free version to be helpful. She is hoping to have access to the paid version which will unlock so many more learning and practice test opportunities.
