General FAQ’s
One Simple Wish is a heartfelt online platform that shines a light on the foster care system and gives you a unique way to make a real difference. Through our wish-granting program, you can help spread love, hope, and happiness to children and young adults affected by foster care. It's simple: we partner with over 2,000 social service agencies across the U.S. to collect personal wishes from those in need—whether they're currently in foster care, aging out, or facing other challenges. You get to choose a wish to grant and help make someone's day truly special.
We support amazing kids and young adults from across the United States who have spent time in the foster care system or have experienced significant hardship or trauma. Every wish represents a real person hoping for a brighter moment—and you can help make that happen.
We're based in New Jersey, but our reach is nationwide! Thanks to our online platform, anyone across the country can help grant wishes and spread joy. Want to send us some fun mail? Our shipping address is 1977 North Olden Ave, #292, Trenton NJ 08618.
Great question! Every wish we feature is thoughtfully chosen by the recipient. Instead of picking a generic item, they’ve selected the exact version—right down to the brand, color, or style—that they’ve been dreaming about. We work closely with their advocates to make sure we get all the details right. These personalized touches mean the world to our recipients and help ensure the gift is something truly meaningful to them.
We understand that some wishes may seem extravagant, but it’s important to remember that many of our recipients have faced challenges and traumas most of us can’t imagine. Our mission is to bring moments of joy and hope into their lives, and sometimes that means granting a big wish. If a PlayStation or a special gadget is what would bring a smile to their face and make them feel seen and valued, we believe they absolutely deserve that joy—just like any other kid.
At One Simple Wish, we believe that love, support, and community shouldn't stop at a certain age. While many programs end when someone turns 18—or up to 25 in some states—we know that the need for connection and care continues long after that. That’s why we proudly support young adults who have experienced foster care or other hardships, no matter their age. If they're still connected to a trusted nonprofit, school, church, or other supportive organization, they’re still part of our community—and always welcome here. Because no one should ever "age out" of love, hope and joy!
We’re proud to share that approximately 85% or more of each wish donation goes directly toward purchasing the item or service requested. The remaining 15% helps cover things like shipping, taxes, credit card processing fees, and program support—so we can keep spreading love, hope, and joy!
There are so many ways to make a difference! Whether you want to volunteer, create a fundraiser, or support us in a unique way, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us anytime, and we’ll help you or your group find the perfect way to bring joy and support to kids who need it most.
Absolutely! We believe everyone has something special to offer, and we’re all about finding meaningful ways to give back that reflect real needs. If you’re interested in donating your time, skills, or resources, reach out—we’d love to brainstorm the best way for you or your group to help.
One Simple Wish supports children and young adults all across the United States. The best way to introduce our wish-granting program to your community is to connect with local foster care nonprofits or agencies (including but not limited to youth advocacy groups, group homes, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs or GALs), or your county or state child welfare department). Encourage them to become a Community Partner with us! Once they’re on board, they’ll be able to submit wishes on behalf of the amazing individuals they serve. We don’t operate through chapters, but we’d love your help spreading the word locally!

FAQ’s about accessing the Program
If you’re currently in foster care—or have been in the past—and would love to make a wish, we’d be honored to help! Please contact your caseworker or a representative from your social service agency. They can guide you through the process of submitting a wish to One Simple Wish. If you represent an organization that supports children or young adults impacted by foster care or other challenges, and you’d like to submit a wish on their behalf, click here to get started!
Not at all! Joining our network and submitting wishes is completely free for advocates and organizations. We’re here to support the incredible work you do, and to help you bring more joy and hope to the individuals you serve.
Absolutely! You do not need to be currently in foster care to be eligible for a wish. If you’ve aged out, been adopted, or reunified with family, you can still receive support as long as you’re currently receiving wraparound support through a social service program (such as a nonprofit, school, church, or other community-based organization).
If you’re not currently part of a program but would like to be, you can use findhelp.org to discover supportive programs in your area. Once you are receiving wrap-around support, your advocate can submit wishes on your behalf.
Please note that our wish program works through trusted partners. If you're not currently involved in a program and don't wish to be, this opportunity may not be the right fit at this time—but we hope you'll continue to seek support and community where you can. You deserve it.
