LilCrystal, 34 years old, FL
LilCrystal entered the system at the age of 10 and aged out at 18. Despite the challenges that she faced while in the system (and after aging out), she was able to push herself into positive things like education and is on track to achieve her goals! After completing High School, LilCrystal attended Florida A&M University and earned two Bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, in only 3 and a half years. Right after her early graduation she was accepted into graduate school at Florida Atlantic University where she earned two masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Nonprofit Management. During her graduate school career, she simultaneously held two internship positions - one as a Foster Youth Intern (FYI) at Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) and the other as a Congressional Intern with U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) in Washington D.C. She conducted research on placement stability and healthy relationship building for foster youth. LilCrystal is determined, hardworking and will not let her past define who she is or the limitless possibilities for her future.
