Rickeyshja is a bright and spunky young lady who enjoys basketball, singing, and spending time with her extended family. Rickeyshja has spent 12 total years in foster care, and much of that time has been spent apart from her six biological siblings, with whom she shares an extremely close bond. In spite of her circumstances, Rickeyshja has always maintained a positive attitude and a bright outlook for her future. Rickeyshja has been to many different schools, and has consistently maintained a high GPA. She enjoys helping others and her goal has always been to obtain a Bachelor’s degree and then a medical degree in order to pursue a career in medicine. One day, Rickeyshja hopes to be a heart surgeon.

One barrier that Rickeyshja has consistently faced in her education is a lack of consistent access to technology, and in particular, a computer of her own. Rickeyshja is currently applying for jobs, and will soon begin the college application and financial aid application processes. All of these tasks are made significantly more difficult given that Rickeyshja must take a bus or train to the library to use a computer. She would therefore benefit tremendously from a computer for her personal use. Not only will a computer eliminate barriers to Rickeyshja's current job applications, but it will also allow her to be successful when she is accepted to and attends college, as she will be able to complete her assignments and conduct research in her own space and at her own pace, rather than relying on campus library or technology room hours.
