Alex is a sweet boy, who until recently was under the care of his mother. His life has been characterized by significant instability, as his mother was not able to provide a safe, stable environment for Alex and his brother, and they are now living with their older sister and her family. Alex has had a life-long dream to become a U.S. Marine.

Alex has had a life-long dream to become a U.S. Marine. Staff Sergeant Hemkes, the recruiter with whom Alex spoke suggested Alex get involved with the Young Marines. This group prepares kids Alex’s age for a life in the Marines. They stress drug avoidance, attention to academics, physical fitness, and public service. Alex was very excited to learn of the Young Marines from Staff Sergeant Hemkes and is very anxious to join.
