Shakayla is a new mother, that is in DFCS custody and has recently graduated from high school. She is working on the everyday joys and trials of new motherhood, along with preparing for her next journey : going to college and becoming a teacher.

Shakayla is a very patient and loving Mommy. She is in school, does her homework but makes sure she has plenty of time every day with her baby girl. The strong bond between the two of them is obvious.
