Giselle is a lovely young lady who has been in the United States for less than a year. She is struggling in school as she does not yet know very much English. Her mother stated that since she was a small child her dream was to live in the United States. She wanted to be safe from the gangs and trafficking that happens frequently to young children in her home country. She loves being here and wants very much to fit in. As with most teenagers, Giselle likes sports, particularly soccer, and she enjoys the same electronic devices as her peers. She wants to learn English as quickly as possible so she is better able to communicate with all her high school peers. When school is out in the afternoon Giselle will be taking English language classes offered by the Latin American Coalition as she doesn’t feel she gets enough exposure and help with English in school.

The specific laptop, the Samsung Chromebook, is the laptop used by students at Giselle’s high school. She is familiar with it and will be using it to help with her academics; most especially learning English.
