Matthew is a very determined young man who has been struggling with an unstable living environment throughout his childhood. Due to substance abuse and neglect by his parents, he was in and out of foster care and, as a result, missed out on many lessons and experiences that others his age have had. He is currently living in an independent living program where he is working toward obtaining his high school diploma while also obtaining a certificate at a technical college. He is working towards becoming independent and gaining different life skills so he can support himself in the future.

Matt is a bright young student who's excited to learn how to drive. Unfortunately, he doesn't have anyone to teach him, and he doesn't have access to a car to practice on. He wants to gain his independence and driving lessons will help him achieve that goal. Right now, he spends about 1 1/2 hours traveling to school each day on the city bus. He'd love to be able to drive himself and save some valuable time. Matt is also working hard to achieve a dual degree and earn his high school diploma and criminal justice certificate at the same time. His ultimate dream is to join the police academy and have a career in law enforcement. Learning to drive will definitely give him a head start toward making that dream a reality!
