An adaptive IPad to help Roxy navigate her detiriorating vision

Roxy, 11 years old, ME

Wish submitted by:

Woodfords Family Services

Roxy is a sweet, loving, and soft-spoken girl who loves her family and friends and exudes kindness to all. She has survived multiple chronic health conditions that have required various treatments and testing, all the while with a smile on her face and hope in her heart. She loves going to Girl Scouts and church and does not let her past experiences or illnesses dampen her spirit. She requires assistive technology and specialized clothes to both look cute and function in her day-to-day life. Roxy brings warmth and kindness to everyone who has the pleasure of meeting her.

As Roxy's vision continues to decline and eventually will lead to blindness, she is learning how to use technology to assist her with this transition and help her in daily life. She does have an adaptive laptop at school, but it cannot be brought home. An IPad at home will help her continue her Picture Exchange Communication System from school and more easily zoom into the screen on her IPad.

"Roxy, What a beautiful name! My youngest daughter is 8 and I adopted her sister, then I adopted her. She also has a beautiful name, her name is a star and a constellation. We live in Texas, but we spend our summers in Maine where my parents live, my girls love it there in the summer. This year for the first time we are flying out in February so my girls can see snow! I hope your ipad and new clothing helps you to stay upbeat and chic! Much love and happiness, Kristine, Zoeymarie, Cassiopeia"
